Nostradamus the Prophet Michel de Nostredame, better known as Nostradamus, was born in Saint-Remy-de-Provence, France, in December 1503. He became famous for his book of prophecies, first published in 1555, which many believe predicted future events. Nostradamus initially trained as a physician and gained a reputation for treating plague victims. However, he became interested in the occult and began making predictions. His prophecies were written in quatrains - four-line verses - and grouped into sets of 100 called "centuries."
